I think Don Nelson has some issues. I think that one day, without help, were gonna see him on TV. He'll be leading the police on a county-wide car chase and at the end of it, we'll find he's wearing a skirt and purple pumps. Sure, it's been done before, but Big Whistle isn't above repeating mistakes. Especially where tall, white men are involved. As off-color and unstable as it seems, it's the only thing I can think of: Nellie wants to get in touch with his feminine side and he wants to do it with a tall European man who has a cursory knowledge of basketball. Why else would Nellie wheel and deal a small portion of the team away some unknown German player who's probably best likened to the second coming of Shawn Bradley (without the height) and a spare-to-fair point guard from Phoenix. It's the best explanation I can think of. Either that or the Mavs are getting ready to tank the season already.
And while these are the enlightened 90's, this kind of behavior is bad for a professional basketball team. Next thing you know, he'll have Martha Stewert in here redesigning the uniforms. It's too late for "Don't ask. Don't tell." It's obvious that Nellie's out of the closet and in the living room with his feet propped up. Please, for the good of the Mavs, Ross, Frank, someone: Get Nellie some help before he brings yet another stiff to town. |
