Will everybody please get out of Michael Irvin's drawers.

Please!

I have heard enough about the alleged incident at training camp with the scissors or shears or whatever.  To which I give a resounding, "Who gives a damn!"  Seems to me, more people have been more concerned with what's coming out of Everett McIver's neck than what came out of President Clinton's pants.

I am not one of them.

I will however quote the President's backers by saying whatever he does in his off-time is his business as long as it does not affect his work.  Right?  If the Chief Executive can be a lecherous, dope-smoking lying thief, can't Mike at least date some strippers and cut a team mate's neck in peace?  What business is it of mine that he does this?  It didn't bother the police any, who didn't even bother to investigate it until news of it leaked out on TV.  Likewise, the probation officers or anyone else.   If McIver didn't report it, what's the problem?  Maybe he's not capable of taking care of himself.  Wouldn't be the first time a Cowboy offensive lineman was roughed up.  Look at Clay Shiver last year.  And that was while he was working.  It didn't make as much noise as this so-called "Scissor-gate."

Everyone seems to be under the impression that since Mike is a high-profile Dallas Cowboy, that gives us the right to pry.   That what he does in his off-time is news.  I hate to disappoint everyone -- it's not.   Whether it happened or not isn't even my business.  It doesn't change the course of the nation and doesn't rate as even a blip in the history of the world.  So why treat it as such?  Because the only people it does effect are the sports reporters who need something to fill inches on their pages or minutes on their sportscast.

Then . . . it's news.
