Ordinarily on Monday nights, I go to skills class, followed by a team practice or a game.  But last week, the trade winds blew  and I agreed to terms with a new team, the Comets.  That would change things for the last week of the season as I would have to play TWO games in one night against two of the best teams in the league.

It was like having a window seat on the Hindenberg.

The Bruins would take the ice first against I-League powerhouse Falcons.  I could tell you that we played a good game and kept it close, but "as I am an honest Puck," I can't.  We did play to the highest level of our inexperience though.  The bottom half of our schedule seemed to be stacked with teams that belonged in the next tier up from the I-League but didn't make the league deadline.   Hence, they would continue to slaughter teams in our league until the next opening came along.  I guess it's easier for them to pick up chicks when they tell them they beat someone 9-1.

Me?  I'm just at a loss to explain how that gouge got into the back of my mask, but I'm sure it was a helluva save.

After the game I grabbed my bag and headed over to the other rink for my next game.  I didn't bother to grab my stats.  I seemed to have lost interest in them once they started to balloon at an exponentiating rate.  Not that they were disheartening in any way, but they stopped being a meaningful way of judging my ability.  At least to me.  So, with 30 minutes to rest, I joined my new team to face the team last week that had rocked me for 10 goals:  The Five Holes.

I was expecting to be in for an even longer night.
