After only one game into this new I-League season, I had realized one thing: I SUCKED!

For the most part, I had not played in a game for a month prior, thanks to a nagging knee injury. So when the first game came around, I was rustier than Doug Lidster after his stint coaching the Canadian National Team. Against the Reapers, I got tagged for four goals on 14 shots. At least half of the shots that got behind me, got there without my knowledge. That means I had lost the puck. Not a good thing for a goalie to do.

But being the determined young goalie that I am, I would hit the ice in the week following for three hours of extra ice time to see if I could get the competitive edge back. If nothing else, I got a couple of lovely bruises for my troubles.

Hopefully my edge came back with them

Huh?
Getting chippy

For their part, the 'Canes brought a chippy game with them. Their bumping and banging caused our vaunted offense to stall. The first period would see us up 1-0, but was it the calm before the storm?
